"I don't believe it!" Victor Meldrew [RIP]
Yet Another Day Up in Soho …
Well it is yet another day up in London’s little borough of eniquity – Soho and it’s oriental cooking smells, as well as many arrogant ‘Mine is bigger than yours’ creatives strutting like peacocks at a cock fight. Yes!! …… It is a day in the Creative Dungeon of IT Despair.
Chilling out to a DJ River compilation of ambient chill, especially after the 1hr 45mins it took to go 5.2 miles from The Village to Guildford station. Why is it the British way of working, that road maintenance ‘gear’ is setup during peak traffic, when they then sit on their backside’s doing nothing for the next few hours? One of those many questions up their with the meaning of life.
Another observation of our ’scared to ask/confront’ culture, that I observe on the train is that when the train is very full, people put their coats on the seat, like the Germans put towels on the sun loungers in the morning. Now, you would expect people to say; ‘Excuse me, this seat is not taken and the train is very full, please would you mind moving your coat/bag, thank you’. Erm, no! They go and plonk their ass on the floor where people can trip over them, or even pour a hot drink as the train moves. Where are the bastion’s of our society known as the ‘Health & Safety’ police’? Don’t get me started on them, please as the next thing they will try to ban is sitting on the toilet as you may slide off or … Well, I will leave that to your imagination.
Could this culture of the coat on the seat be related to the; ’I do not want the Nutter to sit next to me’, or maybe it is just an exstension of our little tupperware world in which we do not want people to invade our space, thus breaking the seal. I’ll leave that one for you to ponder
Till the next time, my Fellow Grumps.
